Recently the U.S. Congress extended the Patriot Act for an additional four years. This should not surprise anyone who is familiar with Bible prophecy. Although America has spent a long time as the world’s great experiment in the exercise of civil liberties, it had become exceedingly apparent that those days are all but over….and Bible Prophecy foretold as much!

The erosion of civil liberties in the U.S. has been going on for a long time in one form or the other. However, it was soon after the  attacks of September 11, 2001 and the emergence of the Patriot Act just how far our civil liberties would be altered.

In the video below representative Ron Paul, Republican from Texas, reminds us just how many of our civil liberties have been stripped away by the Patriot Act on the floor of the House of Representatives, he also points out the general  striping away of our civil liberties and the incapacity of both the people and the representatives to do anything about it. The speech is very sobering, and the information contained therein is an accurate portrayal of exactly what Bible prophecy predicted was going to happen.

An additional video clip listed below points out some very interesting facts as well. It points out how the Democratic Party criticized the Republican Party and fought the patriot act tooth and nail while the Republicans were in charge of the White House. However, they have done nothing to change the provisions of the patriot act that tend to strike down our civil liberties.

Another interesting point that has been brought out in the video below is that the Patriot Act (a fact it is pretty well-known) was not read by the members of Congress before being hastily passed, and  signed into law by President Bush.

Herein lies a very interesting fact that those who doubt Bible prophecy should take note of. That fact is when the Bible prophets under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God declared that something specific is going to happen, or a series of things are going to occur, they are going to happen regardless of the situation at hand. This is a case in point. Two parties that apparently oppose one another on several issues, and one party fighting vigorously against a bill that clearly strips away many of the civil rights or civil liberties of their constituents; and yet when they have an opportunity to strike down some of the most controversial provisions of the bill, not only do they refused to do so, but they fight vigorously in order to keep the very provisions that they fought against in the bill.

“And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.” Revelation 13 15-18.

Finally, in the video clip below Rand Paul,  the Junior Senator from Kentucky, and son of Representative, Ron Paul opposed the Patriot Act in the Senate.

Sen. Paul also pointed out some of the chilling activities with respect to civil liberties that have been going on. He mentions  the secret courts, suspicious activity reports, national security letters, the necessity of banks  and phone companies to essentially become spies for the government or face fines and even jail time.

He also points out how  our text messages are  being read, our phone conversations are being listened to etc.These types of things are the very things that Bible prophecy warned would happen. Bible prophecy although ignored, neglected and even ridiculed has given us dire warnings of tyranny! We ignore Bible prophecy at our own peril. Because we have not listened to the prophets we find ourselves stripped of many of the very civil liberties that we so proudly boast of in America.

It has been said by someone that none are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe that they are free. We should have listened to the prophets.
